CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern men's golfer Owen Newberry was named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week for events played Oct. 9-15, it was announced today. 

Newberry was runner-up at the Elon Phoenix Invitational (par 71, 6,871 yards) with an 11-under 202 (67-69-66). The top Big South golfer of the 25 competing, Newberry's final round 66 was the lowest of the day and jumped him three spots on the final leaderboard. The freshman tallied 16 birdies -- including seven in an eight-hole stretch in the final round, and helped the Bucs finish third in the 16-team field.
