CLINTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern dropped their weekend opener at Presbyterian on Friday night. The Blue Hose won the contest by a final score of 14-2 at the PC Baseball Complex.
Presbyterian was able to get out to a quick and early lead scoring one in the first and five in the second. They tallied another three in the fourth and one in the fifth, surging ahead 10-0.
Charleston Southern got their first of the evening in the top of the sixth off a
Lucas Pringle RBI groundout that scored
AJ Martin. The Blue Hose went on to tally another four in the bottom of the seventh, while the Buccaneers got one back in the top of the ninth off a
Kaden Smith single with the bases loaded.
The Buccaneers finished the evening with six hits as
Kain Collins led the squad with two. Smith, Martin,
Gavin Bogdanchik and
Blake Edgmon each had one as well. They drew three walks and three hit by pitches as well.
Ryan Cole had the start for the squad and threw the first five innings and was followed by
Lee Watson who recorded the next two.
Brett Gastman came in the eighth and allowed one walk but struck out each of the other three batters he faced.
Charleston Southern and Presbyterian will return to the PC Baseball Complex on Saturday afternoon for the second game of the series. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the contest to have live stats available.
