TYRON, N.C. – Charleston Southern competed at their final regular season meet of the indoor season this weekend, traveling to the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational. The Bucs had one of their best showings of the year with more personal bests set as well as new top ten times and marks in school history.
Caleb Kenyon won the 5K at the meet in a personal best time of 14:39.46 to slide into seventh in program history for the event. Close behind him were
Lin Scott in 14:53.85 and
Andrew Cleland in 15:01.96 for third and fourth in the race.
Martin Iriondo ran a personal best in the one mile and won the event at the meet with his time of 4:08.33. He remains seventh in school history despite the faster time.
Mason Raasch claimed second in the event with a 4:11.51 while the Bucs also went 4-5-6. Kenyon had 4:13.38,
Rogan Arriaga had 4:13.44 and
Micah Gilpatric with 4:13.56.
In the 800m, Collin and
Kaden Kleinhen each ran personal bests and claimed second and third overall in their races with times of 1:52.78 and 1:53.04. They each remain in fifth and sixth in school history for the event.
In the 200m, Price won the race with a personal best of 21.30 while Beckwith was second with his 21.65. Price's time slides up to fourth in school history while Beckwith's ranks as the eighth best.
Also in the sprints,
Laden Beckwith had the fastest time in the prelims of the 60m dash with a 6.81 and then ran a 6.77 in the finals to get second at the meet.
Aden Price won the 400m dash with a time of 47.97. Anderson also ran in it and had a 49.82 for sixth overall.
In the 60m hurdles,
Jayden Anderson ran an 8.55 in the prelims to claim third in that round. In the finals, he ran a massive personal best with a time of 8.32 to claim second in the event. The time moves him up a spot to fifth in the school records for the event.
Odin Ferency claimed fourth in the shot put with a best throw of the day being a 15.55m.
Tarrell Miles also competed and placed in the top ten with a heave of 13.86m.
On the first day of the meet, Miles had a career best in the weight throw with a throw of 17.71m. This moves him into a tie for seventh school history for the event.
The Buccaneers will now finish their preparations for the Big South Indoor Championships. The meet will be held at this same facility with the meet to be competed from Friday, February 27 through Saturday, February 28.
