CLINTON - The Charleston Southern softball team hit the road to face Presbyterian College on Wednesday, falling 7–5 in a back-and-forth contest.

The Bucs struck first in the opening inning. Blakley Kingsmore reached on an error, and Jordyn Dimond followed with a single up the middle. After Carsten Sandvig drew a walk to load the bases with one out, an RBI sacrifice fly brought Kingsmore home to give Charleston Southern a 1–0 lead.

Presbyterian responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning, plating three runs to take a 3–1 advantage.

Charleston Southern answered in the second. Harper Schoeneweis led off with a walk and later scored on a Kingsmore double down the first base line. Dimond delivered again with an RBI single to center, bringing Kingsmore across to tie the game at 3–3. Despite the momentum, Presbyterian regained control with two runs in the bottom of the inning to move ahead 5–3.

The Bucs threatened in both the third and fourth innings. Schoeneweis recorded a single in the third, while Dimond and Maddie Lee each notched singles in the fourth, but Charleston Southern was unable to capitalize, leaving runners stranded in both frames.

Linley Jones singled to start the fifth inning before Charlee Yourman reached on an error by the Blue Hose. Kingsmore doubled to right field to score two runners to even the game 5-5.

However, Presbyterian delivered the final blow in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs to secure the 7–5 victory.

The Buccaneers return tomorrow for a doubleheader against Presbyterian College with game one scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with game two to follow at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
