Bucs Take Down Radford on Senior Day to Cap Off Regular Season

CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern capped off their regular season with a senior day victory over Radford in the weekend finale by a final score of 10-7.
 
Charleston Southern struck first with an RBI single in the bottom of the first from Garrison Barile scoring a pair for a quick 2-0 lead. After this, Radford put up five runs in the third to claim the lead.
 
In the fourth, the Buccaneers tied it at five apiece with Barile starting the action with a solo homer to left center. Later in the frame, Blake Edgmon had an RBI single and Alex Marot drew a five pitch walk when the bases were loaded.
 
Radford responded again, this time with an RBI single in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth, pushing the score to 7-5.
 
Charleston Southern did not stay behind for long, scoring four runs in the seventh to reclaim the lead. Barile drew a hit by pitch when the bases were loaded which was followed by an RBI single from Chandler Tuupo. Nathan Martinez drew a walk when the bases were loaded followed by Ethan Reader getting a sacrifice fly. Caden Wolfley scored in the eighth off a wild pitch to push the score to 10-7.
 
The Buccaneers turned to Aydan Smith for the start and threw the first 3.0 innings, allowing just one earned run. Jack Bunnell had 1.2 and Brady Bickett threw 0.2 with both allowing one earned run. Christian Krause worked 1.2 scoreless to earn the win and Hayden Henry tossed the final two innings, allowing just one walk for his fourth save of the season.
 
Charleston Southern will find out their seeding for the Big South Championships later tonight once all the games in the league have been completed. The first day of the six-team tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20 and will be competed through Saturday, May 23 with the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals on the line.
