Colton Everett Returns to CSU's Men's Basketball Program as Assistant Coach

CHARLESTON — Tuesday, the Charleston Southern men's basketball program and head coach Saah Nimley announced the addition of assistant coach Colton Everett.

Everett returns to the Charleston Southern University men's basketball staff as an assistant coach after spending the 2021-26 seasons as an assistant coach at both Ohio Dominican University and Malone University.

At Ohio Dominican, Everett helped guide the Panthers to one of the most successful stretches in program history, including 19 wins during the 2025-26 campaign — the most regular season victories in school history. An impressive turnaround for a Ohio Dominican program that went 10-18 just the year before (2024-25). He played a key role in all facets of the program's success, including offensive strategizing, opponent scouting, game preparation, fundraising efforts, and student-athlete support services.

Prior to his time at Ohio Dominican, Everett spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Malone University, where he helped lead the Pioneers to back-to-back 18-win seasons, including a runner-up finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.

While at Malone, Everett dealt with offensive strategizing, coordinated individual skill development sessions, assisted with practice planning, prepared opponent scouting reports, and oversaw team travel and budget operations.

Everett is no stranger to CSU and the Lowcountry, having previously spent four seasons with the Buccaneers from 2017-21 as Director of Basketball Operations and Interim Assistant Coach after serving as the program's Video Coordinator during the 2016-17 season.

During his previous tenure with the Bucs, Everett was part of the staff that helped deliver the first postseason victory in program history.

In addition to his operational leadership, Everett coordinated and marketed Charleston Southern's summer camp program, negotiated sponsorship agreements for camp and team meal initiatives, and directed the program's community outreach efforts. He also served as Interim Assistant Coach during the summer of 2019.

Everett began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Hawaii Pacific University from 2014-16, where he contributed to three Top 25 victories during his tenure.

A native of Ohio, Everett brings more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience spanning recruiting, player development, operations, budgeting, and program administration at both the Division I and Division II levels.

"Returning to Charleston Southern University as an assistant coach is truly a blessing, and I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity. This university and community have had a lasting impact on my life, so being able to come back and serve in this role is very meaningful to me," said Everett.

"I'm extremely thankful to Coach Nimley for believing in me and giving me the chance to be part of his staff. His passion for the game, commitment to player development, and vision for the future of the program made this an opportunity I was eager to be part of. I can't wait to get started and reconnect with the Buccaneer family."

When asked about the newest addition to his staff, Buccaneer head coach Saah Nimley made it known that Everett's values and skillset align with the Buccaneer program being built in the Lowcountry.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Colton back to our program. Colton embodies the culture we have built in our time here—blue collar, relentless work ethic and high character. He has proven himself as a program builder and innovative offensive mind at both Ohio Dominican and Malone University. Our program and players will benefit greatly from his passion for Charleston Southern, the relationships he builds, and his work on the court."

Everett earned his bachelor's degree in Sports and Leisure Studies from The Ohio State University in 2013 before completing his master's degree in Elementary Education from Hawaii Pacific University in 2016.
