GREENVILLE, S.C. - Charleston Southern hit the road for the first time this fall on Saturday to compete in the Furman Invitational. The Buccaneers placed second at the meet with a team score of 58 points.
Furman won the meet with a perfect score of 15 points with the Bucs behind them with 58 on the day. They finished ahead of five other squads including a Big South member in Gardner-Webb.
Amron Rice was the top finisher for Charleston Southern with a time of 22:13.75 for 11
th overall with
Lucy McNamara right behind her in 12
th with a 22:17.09.
Elizabeth Shaylor claimed 16
th with a 22:28.06 and a pair of freshmen in
Sophia Scherwinski and
Adda Helmers rounded out the scoring in 18
th and 19
th with times of 22:34.26 and 22:35.19.
All 17 runners from Charleston Southern competed at the race. Other notable performers included

The Buccaneers will be enjoy a weekend off before they head to Rock Hill, S.C. to race at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational on the morning of Friday, September 25.
