Coach Lukas Ray joins the Charleston Southern baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2019, coming on board as an assistant coach. Ray will work with catchers, hitters and coach first base on game day.

Most recently, Ray served as Recruiting Coordinator/Pitching Coach at USC-Lancaster for the 2018-2019 season.

Prior to his time at USC-Lancaster, Ray was the Recruiting Coordinator/Pitching Coach at Florence-Darlington Tech. Ray helped the Florence-Darlington Tech program win the 2018 Region X Regular Season title. Ray’s staff posted a team ERA of 2.83 which was the 6th lowest nationally. Under Ray’s direction, sophomore pitcher Tanner Myatt was selected in the 11th round of the MLB Draft to the New York Yankees. Freshmen pitcher Weston Rogers was also named Region X Pitcher of the Year. Ray’s 2018 Recruiting Class was ranked 3rd nationally by Perfect Game which included Payton Smith (San Diego Padres 22nd Round MLB Draft Selection).

Ray spent his first year at USC-Lancaster working primarily with catchers and hitters. Ray helped USC-Lancaster win the 2017 Region X Regular Season title and finished runner-up in the 2017 Eastern District. Under Ray's direction, freshman catcher Nick Cicci earned 2nd team All Region X honors as well as a spot on the Region X All defensive team. This team also included 2019 Miami Marlins 4th round pick Evan Edwards. In the summer of 2018, Ray served as the Hitting Coach for the Staunton Braves (Valley Baseball League).

Ray prepped at Myrtle Beach High School under Head Coach Tim Christy. Ray then went on to play at USC-Lancaster and was a member of the 2015 Region X Tournament Champions. Ray was also a member of the California Bees (Golden State Collegiate Summer League) and the Upper Valley Nighthawks (New England Collegiate Summer League) during his playing career. He attained an Associate's Degree in Science from USC-Lancaster and a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from the University of South Carolina.
