CSU Falls to the Blue Hose in Season Closer

CLINTON, SC- The Lady Buccaneers fell to the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College in their regular season closer with a final score of 1-0 on Saturday evening. The loss moves the Lady Bucs to 9-5-4 on the season, and 4-2-3 in league play for the 2008 regular season. The win places the Blue Hose at 4-10-2 on the season and 3-4-3 in the Big South.

The Saturday loss places the Lady Bucs in the number 4 seed for the Big South Tournament play, and denies them the possible tie for first in the conference for regualr season play. The win for the Blue Hose ties them for sixth in regualr season play in the Big South, but are ineligible to appear in tournament play due to their transition from Division II to Division I.

The sole goal of the game came late in the game at the 70:34 mark when PC's Trycia Bryan beat CSU keeper Alyssa Budros to the right side of the goal off a cross kick from teammate Christy Howard. The Lady Bucs had several opportunities to score outshooting their opponents 14-4, but were unable to capitalize and pull ahead of the Blue Hose.

The Lady Bucs will begin Big South Tournament play on November 6 at High Point University in High Point, N.C.
