Postgame Quotes - Barclay Radebaugh
11/18/2010 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Coach Barclay Radebaugh shares his thoughts on his team's 103-85 victory over Montreat on Thursday night at the CSU Field House.
On being ready to play
"I want to applaud our team on being ready to play. I thought
the first 17 minutes were just incredible and among the best
minutes we have played all year. We built a substantial lead early
on and from then on, the last 23 minutes were choppy at best. I
congratulate our team. The Georgia Tech game was a very emotional
game for us because we have a lot of guys from Georgia, then we
played our in-city rival and that was a pressure-packed game with
tons of people in here watching it. Then Montreat comes in here and
we were ready to play."
On bouncing back after an emotional game
"Our practice Wednesday was just average. They really wanted
to win that Citadel game and they put their heart and soul into it,
and then to turn around and practice and get ready to play a good
Montreat team. It was our job to convince them how good Montreat
was. We did that on film showing them that they have already played
East Carolina and played them well, and with three minutes to go in
the first half they led Appalachian State by three and our team
responded well and came out ready to play."
On sharing the basketball
"We shared the ball well with 23 assists, but I really though
we could have had a few more. There were some times when we drove
and had an open man. We had 16 turnovers and that really bothers
me. We shouldn't have had 16 turnovers tonight and we shouldn't
have let Montreat shoot 50 percent on our floor, but credit them
they are a good team."
On Sheldon Strickland
"I think Sheldon is developing quickly but he still has a lot
to learn. He is a fearless competitor. His facial expression never
changes, he never gets too high and he never gets too low. He
played the same way against Georgia Tech as he did against Montreat
and he has given us a real boost and we have a lot of confidence on
him."
On the Bucs' next opponent, Richmond
"I got to see Richmond as I studied for The Citadel, because
it was The Citadel's first game. After watching about 10 minutes of
it I had to turn it off, they are a top team no doubt. They will be
the best team we have played in a while."
