CHARLESTON, S.C. - Postgame quotes from
Charleston Southern Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh are available
after his team's 62-54 win over UNC Asheville on Thursday.
On his team's execution:
"Our execution was average at best. We had 15 turnovers in the
first half. Really, this was nothing but a gut-out win. It wasn't
pretty. Our execution in the second half was a little better, but
we won this one with effort."
On his team's defensive effort:
"Asheville is a hard team to guard. They're a very, very good team.
They had won seven straight coming into this one. To hold them to
42% shooting and two three-pointers in the game is an
accomplishment because they are such a good team."
On the play of Jeremy Sexton:
"Jeremy had a tough game, but I still think he's the best
freshman in the league. He didn't look like it tonight, and that's
okay. Freshman year, guys are going to have games like that."
On the play of Kelvin Martin:
"Kelvin Martin is a warrior. We wouldn't be where we are today
without him. He can guard any position, and he rebounds the ball as
well as anyone in the league. I wouldn't trade him for anybody.
On the play of Jamarco Warren:
"It comes down to the fact that we rely on Jamarco a lot. When he
misses shots, people say he doesn't play well, but he defends, and
he does other stuff for us. He always has the other team's best
defender on him and he's always the focal point for the other team.
But tonight, he played well, especially with foul trouble."
On the upcoming game against Gardner-Webb:
"I don't buy into the fact that Gardner-Webb is down. Rick Scruggs
is an amazing coach, and we've lost to them four times in a row. It
doesn't matter what their record is coming into here. I know what
Gardner-Webb is capable of doing. They execute as well as anybody
in our league and they shoot it well from the perimeter. We know we
have a real challenge ahead of us."
