Lady Bucs Drop Final Home Match Of Season To Coastal Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. : In the final home game of the season, CSU falls to Big South rival Coastal Carolina (22-25. 25-23, 27-25, 25-20) in Charleston, S.C. on Nov. 5.

The Lady Bucs were led by Sydney Tracy's 14 kills, she was followed closely by Wynter Davis and Kayla Klinger who both had 13. In her final home game as a Buccaneer, senior Amy Nokes led with 28 assists and added six digs. Laura Grace Swindler chipped in a career high 25 assists, while Ashley Higginbothem dug up 13. Erin LaVenice added eight kills and one block. For the match, CSU totaled 59 kills on 144 total attacks (.271), 58 assists, 58 digs and six total blocks.

The Chanticleers were led by Lian Bernett's 15 kills, Sam Skyrd's 44 assists and 11 digs by Lindsay Gill. CCU finished the match with 53 kills, 52 assists, and 52 digs.

Prior to the game, CSU honored parents and loved ones of the volleyball team, as well as senior setter Amy Nokes. Nokes has been a part of the CSU family for five years and is currently sitting 4th all time on the career assists list (2,419). Her 1042 assists during the 2010 season is the 7th best in CSU history. Head Coach Bellush had this to say about her senior captain, "I have had the pleasure to watch Amy grow as a player and a woman over the past five years. She has been an asset to our program and I wish her the best in life."

With the loss, CSU moves to 5-23 overall and 1-11 in the Big South Conference. The 1-11 mark means the Lady Bucs will not make the Big South Tournament which will be held in Charleston, S.C. Nov.17-20.

CSU will end the season with two road games; facing off against Campbell (Nov. 11, 5 p.m.) and High Point (Nov. 12, 4 p.m.).
