CHARLESTON, S.C. - Jamarco Warren continued to pave the way for the CSU men's basketball team, putting up 20 points to lead the Bucs past UNC Wilmington 63-58 in the 2011 Sears Bracketbusters on Saturday night at the Trask Coliseum in Wilmington, N.C.

Warren also had seven rebounds on the night, six of which were defensive, and added in five assists. Kelvin Martin also scored in double figures with 13 points, but just missed the double double with nine rebounds. He also led the team with three steals. Kenny Mitchell put up nine points, and Troy Pierce picked up six boards as the Bucs outrebounded the Seahawks by an astounding 47-25 margin.

CSU shot 34.4 percent from the field and was 17-of-21 (81.8 percent) from the charity stripe. The Bucs' large rebounding margin allowed them to score 29 second chance points to UNCW's eight. Led by Martin and Mitchell, the Bucs also dominated the Seahawks from inside the paint 30-16.

Chad Tomko's 21 points led the Seahawks. Keith Rendlemen had 12 points and led the rebounding effort with nine rebounds. Ahmad Grant also put up nine points and grabbed a steal for UNCW, who shot 40.8 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line. The Seahawks also sunk 11 of their 27 3-point attempts.

A few early treys put the Seahawks ahead by six, thought the Bucs were able to cut it down to two on a layup from Warren. UNCW kept shooting from downtown, sinking another to again take a five points lead. The Seahawks kept a slight margin for most of the first half, as the Bucs could come within two on numerous occasions but couldn't quite overcome the deficit.

Johathan Brooks put up two inside the paint to again bring CSU within two before Jeremy Sexton hit a 3-pointer to give the Bucs' their first lead of the night with 5:50 to go in the first half. Grant nailed another shot from downtown for the Seahawks as they regained the advantage, but a jumper from Martin tied it up at 22-22. Tomko then sunk one from beyond the arc to put UNCW ahead by three once again.

Martin was able to tie things up and then take a one-point lead by hitting two from the free-throw line, and Brooks put up a layup to give CSU its largest lead of the night at three. Tomko then negated their efforts with a trey. However, Chris Grier put up a short jumper with a second left in the first half to give the Bucs a 30-28 lead at the half.

A fast break from Mitchell put CSU ahead by four before yet another 3-pointer from Tomko gave the advantage back to the Seahawks. Warren tied things up with just over 16 minutes to go, but Tomko kept sinking treys to keep UNCW alive. Warren battled back with a 3-pointer of his own to even things out at 37-37 with 14:01 to go in the game.

Three more treys kept UNCW ahead by one, but Warren was not finished and added a jumper to give the lead back to the Bucs. The lead bounced back and forth a few more times before a personal foul on Grant and a technical foul by the Seahawk bench sent Warren to the line for three easy points, giving CSU the four point lead with just over minutes remaining.

Warren hit the line again for two points to keep the Bucs up by five, but UNCW came dangerously close to taking over when Keith Rendleman was sent to the line twice for a total of four points. However, Martin also hit the charity stripe, sinking two to give the Bucs a seven point lead with 37 seconds left. Both Rendleman and Warren hit the free-throw line again with under 15 seconds to go, but it was Warren and the Bucs who prevailed with the 63-58 win.

The Bucs will return to Charleston to host Gardner-Webb on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. The first fans to arrive will receive a free t-shirt as the Bucs attempt to "white out" the Buc Dome. CSU will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they host Coastal Carolina as part of the team's annual Senior Day festivities.
