WILMINGTON, N.C. - UNC Wilmington, ranked No. 68 in the national national women's tennis poll, posted its 20th match win of the season, defeating Charleston Southern, 6-1 on Wednesday, April 6 in Wilmington. UNCW is the fourth nationally-ranked opponent that CSU has faced this season.

With the win, UNCW Wilmington advances its record to 20-3 on the season. Charleston Southern is now 7-8 during the 2011 campaign.

Olga Makhova provided CSU with its lone singles victory on the day, defeating Atlantic-Sun Player of the Week Olga Blank in the first flight.

UNC Wilmington won all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the contest. Chelsea Kahle and Kelly Cameron defeated Brooke Pletcher and Alexandra Walters 8-3 at No. 3 doubles. UNCW's team of Blank and Angela Sekely won the first flight, 8-6, over Heather Isbell and Angie Torres.

With the doubles point secure, Christina Lee and Lindsay Leblang edged out Makhova and Marija Dzakovic, 8-6.

UNCW claimed the match victory by winning the first three flights to be completed. All six singles matches were straight-set contests.

Cameron bested Isbell, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 3 position, while Lee downed Pletcher in a two-set match in the No. 2 singles match. A straight-sets victory by Christina Riley over Walters clinched the match for UNC Wilmington.

Makhova earned her ninth singles victory of the year, defeating Blank, 6-3, 6-1, to give CSU one point in the match.

Leblang earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Torres at No. 5 singles, and Kahle finished the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Alia Nour.

CSU will close out the home portion of the 2011 schedule Saturday, April 9, playing host to Campbell at 10 a.m. Saturday's match will be the final home contest for seniors Brooke Pletcher and Angie Torres. UNC Wilmington next faces South Carolina State on Saturday in Wilmington.
