LEXINGTON, VA. - Toni Lashley added two more goals to her season total and recorded her first assist on the season as Charleston Southern topped the Virginia Military Institute on Thursday afternoon on Patchin Field, 4-0.

Lashley, Allison Lewis and Chelsea Frankeny all found the back of the net for the Lady Bucs (5-6-1, 3-2 BSC) offense and Caitlin Cody recorded her second shutout of the season in holding the Keydets (1-10, 0-5 BSC) scoreless in the contest.

VMI challenged early as Allie Segura and Simon Jimenez fired the first two shots in the game, but both of the Keydets' attempts sailed high to keep the game scoreless. Gina Cox put the first shot on goal in the contest, but her attempt at the 16:59 mark was collected by Kirsten Hancock to keep the Lady Bucs at bay.

Lewis opened up the scoring in the contest with her second goal of the season as the junior midfielder gathered a cross from Toni Lashley inside the box at the 21:32 mark. Lewis took one dribble to clear space before launching shot toward the right side of the net, over the outstretched hands of Hancock and into the upper right corner to put CSU ahead, 1-0.

Lashley quickly added to the score on the next CSU shot attempt as the junior forward recorded her first goal of the contest at the 23:25 mark to put the Lady Bucs up 2-0. Her shot from 25 yards out sailed inside the left post and into the back of the net over the hands of Hancock to double the CSU lead midway through the first half.

VMI continued to battle through the remainder of the half as Segura, Kacey Hall and Courtney Mason challenged Cody with shots on goal, but the CSU goalkeeper proved up to the task to keep the score at 2-0 as the teams headed into the halftime break.

Lashley found the back of the net for the second time in the net early in the second half, passing the ball to Rebecca Hollstegge in the center of the field. Hollstegge fed the ball back to Lashley, leading her into a one-on-one with the Keydets keeper and the CSU junior fired from the top of the box with her shot beating the keeper to top left corner of the net at the 55:10 mark to put the score at 3-0.

Frankeny added the final score of the contest in the 80th minute as the freshman forward placed in her third goal of the season scoring on a breakaway through the defense. Her shot at the 79:16 mark went past Harrmann into the bottom right corner of the net to put the score at 4-0 with 10 minutes to play in the contest.

VMI outshot CSU in the contest, recording 12 shots to the Lady Bucs 10, but Cody made eight saves for Charleston Southern as CSU recorded their second consecutive Big South Victory.
