Bucs Tied for 14th Overall After First Day of Raines Development Group Intercollegiate

FLORENCE, S.C. - Ross Thomson led the Buccaneers in their first action on the 2012 season at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate as Charleston Southern sits tied for 14th overall after the first day of play at the Country Club of S.C.

The Buccaneers finished the first two rounds of the tournament on Monday, cutting eight strokes off their first round total on their second 18 holes of the match as CSU finished the day with a final score of 590, sitting tied for 14th overall with Elon University.

Thomson led the way on the course for CSU, carding a 35-36 over the morning round, and cut two more strokes off his total in the second round to sit among the leaders on the first day, tied for fifth overall at 4-under par.

Jarrett Swan finished two strokes behind Thomson on the first day, following a first round 73 in the morning rounds by matching Thomson's low of 69 to sit two strokes back in a tie for 10th place overall at 2-under for the tournament

C.J. Liner dropped six strokes off his first round 78 to card an even-par second round to sit tied for 57th overall among the 16 team tournament, while Anthony Caroso finished the day with a score of 158 after carding a 77-81 over the 36 holes of play.

Jason Fick rounded out the group placed on the course by Coach Mike Wilson, carding a first round 79 and added a second round 82 to finish with a 161.

Charleston Southern closes out the two-day event tomorrow morning as the Buccaneers take on the field in the final round of the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tournament.
