Lady Bucs in second at Eat-A-Peach Collegiate Tournament after day one

Jekyll Island, Ga. - Following the first round of play, the Lady Bucs are in second place at the Eat-A-Peach Collegiate Tournament. With a score of 298 (+10), The Lady Bucs are only three strokes off the lead, held by host team, Mercer University.

Today's score boasts the second-lowest round for the Lady Bucs in school history. Junior Torey Johnson is tied for second individually, with an even-par 72.

"I hit it really well on the range, and decided to adjust my warm up routine, and it seemed to work," said Johnson. "I set myself a goal today to make at least four birdies, and achieving that goal was encouraging. Our team is really blending well and playing with confidence."

Senior Katelyn Bensch is in a tie for seventh individually, carding a two-over-par 74. Amanda D'Ostroph and Vanessa Jay both recorded a 76 to tie at tenth overall. Casey MacNeil trails the pair by two strokes, with Viktoria Enhager has a score of 79 after the opening day.

Mercer University's Mary Alice Murphy had the low round of the day with a one-under 71. Other teams in the field are Mercer (295), North Florida (303), Stetson (305) and Seminole State (316).
