HOLLYWOOD, S.C. - Charleston Southern trails only frontrunner
USC Upstate in the Charleston Shootout, hosted by the College of
Charleston at the Links at Stono Ferry.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament was to play 36 holes today, but
the first tee times were postponed due to frost and cold weather.
As a result, golfers were able to complete only 10 to 15 holes of
the second round as darkness overtook the course.
Jarrett Swan, Nicolas Baena, Choo Teck Ng, and Ross Thomson were
just one stroke from the next, recording scores of 73, 74, 75 and
76, respectively on the par-72 course. Swan's first round put him
in a tie for ninth, but his suspended second round two-under has
him just three strokes off the leader currently.
As a team, CSU completed the first round in a three-way tie for
third place among twelve teams, but multiple Bucs are on pace to
shave strokes off their first round totals and hold a one-stroke
advantage over High Point.
Competing as individuals, James Canaday (+4 first, E second) and
Jason Sauder (+3, +3) both place in the top 50 in a field of
84.
Teams will resume second round play and wrap up the third round
tomorrow. Follow the action live at http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/leaderboards/team/static/tdetail13_3637.html.
