MACON, Ga. - Mercer scored three late goals in the second half to pull away from Charleston Southern on Thursday evening as the Buccaneers fell to the Bears at Bear Field, 4-0.

Toni Lashley led the Bucs attack with five shots and Allison Lewis had a pair of shots in the contest to pace the Buccaneers offense in the match, while Caitlin Cody made her first start in goal, recording 13 saves on the evening.

Charleston Southern falls to 3-3 overall with the loss, while Mercer improves to 3-3-1 in the 2013 season with the win.

Lashley had the first shot of the match, connecting on an attempt in the first 30 seconds on the afternoon, but pushed her attempt wide. The CSU senior forward also connected on a second shot, but her attempt was corralled by Mercer goalkeeper Maggie Cropp at the 10:14 mark to keep the match scoreless.

Casey Barrett opened the scoring for the Bears in the first half, scoring off the assists from Brianna Stampler and Katelyn Dimopoulos in the 14th minute. Barrett one-timed the low cross into the back of the net at the 13:29 mark to give Mercer the 1-0 lead.

With the 1-0 lead intact heading into the second half, Sydney Brodgen doubled the Bears' lead at the 69:37 mark, one-timing an attempt off the assist from Maddie Clark to put Mercer ahead 2-0.

Lewis and Lashley attempted to lead the Bucs comeback attempt, with Lashley firing a shot wide at the 79:54 mark, while Lewis' attempt was corralled by Cropp at the 80:58 mark as the Bears kept the Bucs off the scoreboard.

Mercer closed out the scoring in the match with a pair of late goals, with Washida Blackman scoring at the 83:34 mark, while Stampler connected on a goal on the breakaway attempt at the 85:03 mark.

Charleston Southern remains on the road as the Buccaneers travel to Statesboro, Ga., to take on Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff between the Bucs and the Eagles is set for 6 p.m.
