Bucs ninth after two rounds at the UNF Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Charleston Southern is ninth after 36 holes on Monday at the UNF Intercollegiate, played at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. 

CSU (+73) fired a 323 in its morning round and carded a 326 on the afternoon to land one stroke behind Southern Illinois for eighth and four strokes ahead of Jacksonville. Western Carolina (+37) leads host-North Florida (+42) by five strokes, while Eastern Kentucky (+46) is third in the 14-team field.

No player is under par for the event. Daytona State's Tiffany Chan (+2) leads by two strokes over Elizabeth Haycock of Old Dominion. 

Senior Torey Johnson is 12th after she had CSU's best round of the day with a 76 (+4) in the morning. She followed with an 80 in the afternoon.  Johnson played her first 10 holes at even par and birdied the par-5 16th hole. 

Fellow-senior Vanessa Jay is 19th after and 81 and a 77 (+5) for a total of 158. Jay started slow, but was even over her final six holes in her morning round. 

Freshman Bella Johnson fired an 82 and an 83 for a total of 165. She's tied for 41st and was even over her final eight holes of the day.  

Freshman Shelby Thompson is 57th and senior Jordan Hollinshead is 71st.  Thompson had back-to-back birdies on her third and fourth holes in the morning round.

Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
