Streak reaches double-digits; Bucs sweep Jacksonville State 7-0

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern took home their 10th consecutive win as the Buccaneers topped visiting Jacksonville State 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.

The 7-0 victory was Charleston Southern's seventh sweep of their opponent during the 10 match winning streak as the Buccaneers improved to 11-3 overall on the season with the win. CSU previously swept Wofford, Columbia, Radford, Southern Miss, Presbyterian and UNC Asheville on the season and improved to 7-0 on the season at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex with all victories occurring over the span of the winning streak.

The Buccaneers took two of the three doubles matches against Jacksonville State to open up the afternoon's action and Charleston Southern swept all six singles matches with Gabriela Srodowski clinching the CSU win on court no. 6 in picking up the win and building momentum toward their biggest match of the season on Sunday afternoon against Winthrop.

Marketa Placha and Nicolin Luecke opened up the action on court no. 3 as the doubles duo picked up their 10th win of the season with an 8-2 win over Sadey St. Amant and Aleksandra Cmilijic. Raisa Guasti and Claudia Marsala evened the match with an 8-6 win over the CSU duo of Yvonne Hubler and Alexandra Walters.

In the rubber match, Alia Nour and Mi'Kola Cooper defeated Olivia Nguyen and Zoe Bizinos on court no. 2 to give the Bucs the first point of the match with an 8-6 win.

Placha picked up the first CSU singles point and put the Buccaneers ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Marsala on court no. 2, while Nicolin Luecke put CSU within one point of clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Isidora Knezevic on court no. 4. Gabriela Srodowski clinched the CSU win with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Bizinos on court no. 6.

Hubler kept the ball rolling for Charleston Southern on court no. 1, topping Raisa Guasti on court no. 1, 6-4, 6-1 and Alia Nour added a 6-2, 6-1 win on court no. 5 over Danielle Kerindi. Walters closed out the final Buccaneers point and completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Nguyen on court no. 3.

The Buccaneers return to Big South Conference play this weekend in a showdown between the only two undefeated teams remaining in conference action as Charleston Southern makes the trip to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on Winthrop at the Memorial Courts on Sunday afternoon. First serve between the Bucs and the Eagles is set for 2 p.m.
