MADISON, Wisc. – Charleston Southern shot the third-lowest round of the day to finish seventh following the final round of the 2014 Badger Invitational. The Buccaneers shot a team 293 (+5) and climbed one spot in the final round to finish ahead of Kansas, Rutgers, and three Missouri Valley teams.

Sam Houston State won the tournament at 7-over par, one stroke ahead of Iowa State (+8). USC Upstate (+16), Toledo (+25), and Marquette (+26) round out the top five. Iowa State's Scott Fernandez rallied with a 6-under 66 to win the event at 213 (-3).

"We put together a solid round today in tough conditions," CSU Director of Golf Mike Wilson said following Tuesday's round. "Our guys handled adversity well in getting here and improved the deeper we got into the tournament."

Senior Will Pieper had his best finish of the season by taking 19th. After an even-par 72 on Monday, he followed with a 73 (+1) to finish in the Top 20.

Sophomore Austin James shook off his first two rounds to card the Bucs' low number of the tournament with a 1-under 71 on Tuesday. He made three birdies and was 2-under on the back nine. James finished 21st, one stroke back of Pieper.

Senior Jarrett Swan had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a 73 (+1) to move up and finish 34th.

Freshman R.J. Keur closed with a 76 (+4) to tie for 28th, while sophomore Daniel Gregory was 68th following an 80 (+8).

The Bucs have two weeks off before traveling to Camden, S.C. for the Camden Intercollegiate. The event runs Oct. 18-19 at Camden Country Club.
