Radebaugh named NABC District 3 Co-Coach of Year; Nimley named 1st Team

KANASAS CITY, Mo. – Charleston Southern head coach Barclay Radebaugh has been selected as the NABC Division I District 3 Co-Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Friday. CSU guard Saah Nimley, meanwhile, earned a spot on the NABC All-District 3 First Team.

Radebaugh and North Florida coach Matthew Driscoll shared NABC Coach of the Year honors for District 3, which comprises all of the programs in the Big South and Atlantic Sun Conferences. Nimley was named to the All-District First Team along with two other Big South players. He was also named All-District First Team in 2012-13 after leading CSU to a regular season conference championship and NIT berth.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches. The group selects the top players and coaches from all 25 districts.
Radebaugh was named the Big South Conference Coach of the Year after leading CSU to the winningest regular season in the program's 50-year history. CSU's 19 overall wins and 13 Big South wins were both program records. The Bucs knocked off eventual NCAA Tournament participant Ole Miss in overtime to start the year, and ran off a pair of five-game winning streaks in league play to finish atop a Big South that featured a seven-way tie for first 12 games into the conference season.
Radebaugh piloted CSU to national postseason play for the second time in three years, leading the Bucs to a near-upset of top-seeded Old Dominion in the first round of the NIT. He became CSU's all-time winningest coach this season, ranks 7th in Big South history in victories and is the eighth coach in league history to collect multiple coach of the year honors.
Nimley was named the Big South Player of the Year, and currently ranks 5th nationally in both scoring and three-pointers per game. He averaged 25.6 PPG in Big South games, and scored 30 or more points in seven of CSU's final 14 regular season contests. Nimley went over the 20-point plateau in 17 games and ranked top-ten league-wide in seven different statistical categories.
Nimley finished his career as Charleston Southern's all-time leader in assists and made free throws. He ranks second in CSU annals in made threes, and third in scoring. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native is the only player in the Big South's 31-year history with over 1,800 points and 500 assists.
