GREENVILLE, N.C. – Charleston Southern slipped one spot to 10th with a final round 324 (+36) and finished third among six Big South schools at the 2015 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday at Brook Valley Country Club.
CSU finished with a total of 948, two shots back of Western Kentucky and Georgia Southern. The Buccaneers finished four ahead of High Point and also ahead of conference foes, Winthrop and Radford. Gardner-Webb was the top finisher ahead of the Bucs, taking fifth at 934. CSU also finished five back of Longwood. The Bucs also finished ahead of Cincinnati, Appalachian State, and Marshall, among others.
East Carolina, which finished at 891 for the event, (+27) won by seven strokes over Old Dominion (+34). Elon (+57), William & Mary (+65), and Gardner-Webb rounded out the top five.
Junior Shelby Thompson was the Bucs' top finisher after tying for 27th. She shot a 7-over 79 on Tuesday and had three birdies in her round.
Junior Bella Johnson pieced together a 5-over 77 in her final round to climbed into a tie for 35th.
Sophomore Hayley McNeill was 40th with an 84 (+12) on Monday, while junior Natthakan Teeratrakul also posted an 84 and finished 60th.
Savannah Hallman closed with a 90 to take 57th, while Milleina Ohara was tied for 54th after an 81.
The Bucs will host a field of 18 at the CSU Invitational next week (Oct. 5-6) at Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The 54-hole event begins with two rounds on Monday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
