JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore Emelie Flink eagled the par-5 14th hole to highlight a 3-over 75 and finish tied for 26th at the UNF Collegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
CSU, which shot a 307 in the final round for its best round of the event, finished 16th at overall, eight strokes ahead of James Madison (+8). The Buccaneers closed two strokes back of Jacksonville and three behind Western Carolina and Samford.
Flink birdied her opening hole and eagled her final hole of the day to start and finish strong. She was 12-over for the event to finish 11 strokes off the pace.
Sophomore Hayley McNeill had CSU's low round of the tournament with a 74 (+2) on Tuesday. Her round included five birdies – four in her final eight holes – to finish tied for 46th.
Houston finished with a tournament 54-hole record of 878 (+14) including a tournament single round record of 288 (E) in the final round. Texas finished second with a total of 888, 10 strokes back of the Cougars.
Houston's Emily Gilbreth and Megan Thothong tied for medalist honors with 217 (+1) tournament totals, which matches the event tournament record set by Thothong in winning last year's event.
Junior Shelby Thompson was 60th after an 80 (+8) in her final round, while fellow junior Hannah Barger posted a 78 (+6) to finish 74th.
Sophomore Savannah Hallman closed with an 80 (+8) and in 88th.
CSU returns to action March 20-22 at the Samford Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala. The 54-hole event will be played at the Greystone Golf and Country Club, Founders Course.
