KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Charleston Southern junior R.J. Keur posted a two-under par 70 in difficult conditions to finish tied for 15th place on Tuesday at The Invitational at The Ocean Course. CSU moved up two spots to place 13th as a team thanks to a two-over par 290 that was the third best total of the day.

Middle Tennessee State held on to its 36-hole lead to win the tournament with a final tally of 14-under par 850. Ole Miss was six shots off the pace in second place. Jake Marriott of Augusta compiled a 54-hole effort of nine-under par to take medalist honors by a stroke over Coastal Carolina's Alfredo Ruiz. The field featured six top-75 programs from last spring's final Golfstat rankings.
Keur (71-74-70 – 215 (-1)) was one of only ten players to go under par on Tuesday. He started an up-and-down first nine with birdies at 10 and 11. Two bogeys and a double bogey sent Keur to two-over for the day and three-over overall before a strong closing stretch. Keur made the turn with momentum off a birdie at the long par-4 18th. He birdied both par-5's on the front side, added a birdie at the par-three fifth and completed his final nine without a bogey.
Senior Austin James (68-76-73 – 217 (+1)) finished tied for 25th. James was tied for fifth following a first-round 68. On Tuesday, he parred his first nine holes before an eventful final nine featuring three birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
Junior Jacques Wilson bounced back from a tough opening day to record an even-par 72. He played his final 13 holes at one-under par.
CSU returns to action on Sept. 30 at The Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa. There, the Bucs will compete against schools representing all five power conferences.
