Wilson paces Bucs to fourth place finish at Carolina Classic

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Freshman Jeryk Wilson paced Charleston Southern in the Buccaneers' season opening meet on Saturday morning, placing 14th overall in the field and sixth among NCAA Division I runners. The Buccaneers finished fourth overall among the Division I teams in the field in the opener hosted by South Carolina.
Wilson finished the five-kilometer course in 16:29.27 in his first collegiate race to pace the Buccaneers' in their first action under Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jim Stinzi.
Sophomore Brandon Damon finished 16th among Division I runners in the field with a time of 17:56.36. The Buccaneers team consisted of four sophomores and two freshmen and was one of the youngest among the field on Saturday morning.
Sophomores Keith Terry (19:07.83, 23rd) and Caleb Edgehill (19:27.34, 24th) finished back-to-back in the field, while Matthew Davis (19:41.46, 26th) rounded out the team results for the Bucs.
Sophomore Chris Fludd-Clark ran as an independent on the course and finished 27th overall among DI runners with a time of 20:38.38.
The Buccaneers are back in action on Saturday, September 24 at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational hosted by The Citadel on James Island.
