CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern looks to extend its winning streak to three when the Buccaneers host S.C. State on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the CSU Soccer Field.
The Bucs improved to 5-8-2 and 2-4-2 in the Big South with a 3-0 win over USC Upstate on Wednesday. The victory puts CSU squarely in the hunt for a berth in the conference tournament with regular season games left against Hampton on Wednesday and Radford next Saturday on Senior Day.
Dakota Fiedler and
Zari Hayes scored for the Bucs in the win over the Spartans, and CSU also benefited from an own goal. The defense held Upstate to nine shots and only one on goal.
The Hayes' goal was her fifth of the season, giving her the team lead by one over
Kylie Doster. Freshmen
Lauren McDonald and
Chloe Bailey had their first career assists.Â
S.C. State is 3-10 but has won two of its last three with victories over Delaware State and Allen. CSU holds an 11-1 lead in the all-time series and has allowed only two goals during a current four-game winning streak over the Bulldogs.
