Box Score

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Dakota Fiedler scored two goals and Bri Robinson added a goal and an assist to power Charleston Southern to a 5-4 win over South Carolina State on a rainy Saturday at the CSU Soccer Field.

Zari Hayes and Mason Pinkerton also had goals, and Lauren McDonald and Erin Rush contributed two assists for the Buccaneers (6-8-2), who won their third in a row.

How It Happened
•    It took only four minutes for CSU to get on the board when Hayes scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season with the assist going to McDonald.
•    In the ninth minute, Robinson scored for the second time this season with McDonald credited with her second assist and third in the past two games.
•    The Bulldogs (3-11) got on the board in the 22nd minute when Jamey Thomas scored the first of her two goals in the game.
•    But the Bucs answered in the 32nd minute to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Pinkerton scored her second goal with Rush getting the first of two assists on the day.
•    Thomas scored again in the first four minutes of the second half to make it a one-goal game again.
•    The Bucs then appeared to put the game out of reach with consecutive goals by Fiedler in the 50th and 52nd minutes. Robinson had her team-best sixth assist on the first one, and Rush assisted on the second.
•    The Bulldogs didn't go away without a fight. Mikayla Goins scored in the 61st minute, and Serena Schwartz added a goal with just 27 seconds left to make for a one-goal final margin.

Inside the Numbers
•    The Bucs were accurate in their shot production, firing 19 with 14 being on target.
•    Fiedler had three shots with all of them on goal. Robinson, Pinkerton and Kat Klingensmith also had three shots.
•    Jazmin Gonzalez made four saves for CSU. Luisa Marschausen and Jaidyn Christophe each played a half for S.C. State and combined for nine saves.

•    That is the most goals in a three-game stretch since putting up 19 in wins over VMI, UNC Asheville and Presbyterian in 2010.
