CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Dakota Fiedler scored two goals and
Bri Robinson added a goal and an assist to power Charleston Southern to a 5-4 win over South Carolina State on a rainy Saturday at the CSU Soccer Field.
Zari Hayes and
Mason Pinkerton also had goals, and
Lauren McDonald and
Erin Rush contributed two assists for the Buccaneers (6-8-2), who won their third in a row.Â
How It Happened
•   It took only four minutes for CSU to get on the board when Hayes scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season with the assist going to McDonald.
•   In the ninth minute, Robinson scored for the second time this season with McDonald credited with her second assist and third in the past two games.
•   The Bulldogs (3-11) got on the board in the 22nd minute when Jamey Thomas scored the first of her two goals in the game.
•   But the Bucs answered in the 32nd minute to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Pinkerton scored her second goal with Rush getting the first of two assists on the day.
•   Thomas scored again in the first four minutes of the second half to make it a one-goal game again.
•   The Bucs then appeared to put the game out of reach with consecutive goals by Fiedler in the 50th and 52nd minutes. Robinson had her team-best sixth assist on the first one, and Rush assisted on the second.
•   The Bulldogs didn't go away without a fight. Mikayla Goins scored in the 61st minute, and Serena Schwartz added a goal with just 27 seconds left to make for a one-goal final margin.
Inside the Numbers
•   The Bucs were accurate in their shot production, firing 19 with 14 being on target.
•   Fiedler had three shots with all of them on goal. Robinson, Pinkerton and
Kat Klingensmith also had three shots.

Jazmin Gonzalez made four saves for CSU. Luisa Marschausen and Jaidyn Christophe each played a half for S.C. State and combined for nine saves.
News and Notes
•   CSU scored five goals in a game for the first time since a 5-3 win over Canisius on August 30, 2013.
•   Including a 4-2 win over UNC Asheville and a 3-0 victory over USC Upstate, the Bucs have 12 goals in their last three games.
•   That is the most goals in a three-game stretch since putting up 19 in wins over VMI, UNC Asheville and Presbyterian in 2010.
•   The Bucs have six games with three or more goals this season, the most since doing so seven times in 2010.
•   Robinson's six assists are the most by a CSU player since 2009.
•   The Bucs improved to 12-1 all-time against the Bulldogs and have won five in a row.
Up Next
CSU returns to Big South play on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. at Hampton. The Bucs then wrap up the regular season next Saturday when Radford visits for Senior Day.
