CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Grace Harr and
Elise Borys scored less than a minute apart late in the first half to wipe out a 1-0 deficit and send Charleston Southern on its way to a 3-1 victory over Alabama State on Sunday at the CSU Soccer Field.
The Bucs (3-3) added an insurance goal with 10 minutes remaining when
Mason Pinkerton found the back of the net. CSU remains at home on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. game against College of Charleston in the annual Silver Cup contest.

How It Happened
•   CSU started strong with four shots in the opening seven minutes, but it was the Hornets (1-6) who scored first on Isabella Beortegui's fourth goal of the season.
•   The Bucs continued to put the pressure on the Alabama State defense, but shots by
Juliana Barbaccia and
Kylie Doster hit the crossbar to keep CSU off the board.
•   The Bucs finally tied it in the 42nd minute when Harr scored the first goal of her freshman season, assisted by
Dakota Fiedler.
•   Just 56 seconds later
Elise Borys chipped a ball to the top of the goal and it sneaked past the hands of Kylian Thomas to give the Bucs a 2-1 lead. The goal was Borys' second of the season.
•   The two goals concluded a dominating first half in which CSU held a 13-2 advantage in shots.
•   In the 80th minute, the Bucs put the game on ice when Pinkerton scored her first career goal off a run started by a pass from
Bri Robinson.Â
Inside the Numbers
•   CSU finished with season highs in shots with 24 and shots on goal with 11 while holding the Hornets to eight shots and three on target.
•   Robinson and
Kayla Reese led the Bucs with four shots each while Pinkerton added three.
•   CSU earned seven corner kicks and did not allow any.
•   Thomas made eight saves for Alabama State while Gonzalez was forced to make only two.
