ORLANDO, FLA. - The Charleston Southern softball team picked up their first win of the season with a 5-0 win over Lehigh before dropping their second game to Georgia Southern.

TOP OF THE THIRD
- Brooklynn Brewington singled through the left side and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt put down by freshman Katelyn Norris.
- Sarah Brown delivered a shot through the gap in left to score Brewington and put the Bucs up one.
TOP OF THE FOURTH
- Ashlyn Cribb started things off with a four-ball walk where Kendall Anderson would replace her to pinch run.
- Another walk to Dominque Mannerino would put two on with nobody out.
- Madison Koger beat out the throw from the Hawks 3B and picked up a single by way of a bunt.
- Heads up base running allowed Anderson to score on a pass ball.
- Brewington laid down a perfectly placed bunt to advance all runners and load the bases for Norris who would deliver a bases-clearing double.
BOTTOM OF THE FOURTH
- Freshman pitcher Annah Junge remained hitless through five innings, tallying back-to-back innings retiring the Hawks in order.
BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH
- Junge gave up her first hit to the Hawks on a single which led to an advance to second on a fielding error from Norris.
- The Buccaneer infield would hold their ground and deny the scoring threat.
BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH
- Hawks load the bases after a pair of singles and a walk from Junge.
- Holly Clark entered the game in relief with the bases loaded and no outs.
- Clark would go on to field two balls hit back her way and on a 3-2 count, she struck out the final batter she faced to keep the shutout intact
BOTTOM OF THE SEVENTH
- Clark would seal the victory for the Buccaneers and collect the save after striking out her final two batters faced.
The last shutout win for the Buccaneers was on April 4, 2019 when they defeated Hampton by a final score of 5-0. Annah Junge picked up her first win in a Charleston Southern uniform giving up four hits and retiring 19 of 22 batters faced. Holly Clark picked up her first save of the season after pitching two innings and sitting down six of seven batters faced with three strikeouts.

TOP OF THE THIRD
- Georgia Southern struck first with a single off the fence that scored a run in from third.
- Heinrich ended the inning with a K and left two Eagles stranded.
TOP OF THE FOURTH
- A pair of errors cost the Bucs two runs in the fourth as the Eagles would extend their lead to three.
TOP OF THE FIFTH
- A four-ball walk from Heinrich would force the Bucs to make a call to the bullpen for Annah Junge.
BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH
- With two down, Brooklynn Brewington and Katelyn Norris both picked up infield singles after beating out the throw from the Eagles.
- Charleston Southern would pop out and leave two stranded.
Meghan Gagliano recorded her first hit of the season with a screamer down the left-field line. The double marked the third of Gagliano's career. She would finish 2-for-3 on the night. The Bucs would finish 1-1 on the day with the loss to the Eagles.
The Buccaneers will return to action tomorrow for their final game of the D9 Citrus Blossom as they face off against Georgia Southern at 11 AM.
