CONWAY, S.C. – In their first matchup since the 2016 season, Coastal Carolina downed the Charleston Southern women's tennis team 7-0 Saturday afternoon behind strong doubles play and straight-set wins on five singles courts.
Coastal Carolina (1-2) got the ball rolling early with wins on the top two courts and all six decisions in singles play before Charleston Southern (3-4) could answer.
How It Happened
- Coastal Carolina took three hard-fought doubles matches for the 1-0 lead taking each court by scores of 6-4, 6-3, 7-5
- The home Chanticleers would go on to take four of the five singles decisions by straight-set scores on courts two, three, five and six
- Charleston Southern ace Tiffany Pyritz would battle and force a decisive third set but fell 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6)
