CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern softball team will head across the Ravenel Bridge to compete in the Holy City Showdown this weekend at Patriots Point.
The Buccaneers are being led offensively by Sarah Brown who picked up six hits in her last four games with a pair of extra base hits. Brown leads the team in hitting percentage, RBIs, hits and total bases through the ten games. Mallory Kasinger and Brown have both now reached base with hits for the past four consecutive games.

University of Maine (1-3)
The Black Bears are entering their weekend of festivities with a record of 1-3 after competing in the USC Upstate Tournament, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After their first weekend of competition, five different pitchers had entered the circle for Maine. Caitlyn Fallon, Gabbie Siciliano, Kyleigh O'Donnell, Lilly Volk, and Emily Reid all threw for at least 2.0+ innings in Spartanburg, South Carolina. O'Donnell returned to the state of Maine with a 1.00 ERA, a win, and 7 strikeouts. Fallon turned heads in her collegiate debut. The freshman finished with a 2.33 ERA over her first 3.0 innings of work. With 8.0 complete innings over the weekend, Siciliano racked up four strikeouts and recorded a 3.50 ERA. Opening weekend was busy for Reid as she worked 5.0 innings and struck out five.
Coppin State University (0-0)
Coppin State will begin their season at the Holy City Showdown. Nia Bowe was named a First Team Preseason All-MEAC Softball Team selection and the Eagles were picked to finish ninth in the conference as the MEAC Softball Preseason Poll.
A junior outfielder from Milford, Del., Bowe was a Second Team selection as a freshman in 2018 after leading the team with a .364 batting average and a school-record 11 home runs which were the third-most in the MEAC that season. Bowe also slugged .727 and drove in 37 runs to finish third in the conference. Bowe now has 14 home runs in her career which are the fifth-most in school-history.
University of Tennessee Chattanooga (4-7)
Chattanooga played to a losing record in a home tournament for consecutive weekends for the first time in program history. UTC dropped an extra-inning battle to Miami (OH) before earning a Friday DH split behind a 5-4 victory over Saint Louis. On Saturday, the team fell 5-2 to SIUE and 9-6 to UNLV to wrap up Frost Classic action with a 1-3 mark.
