CONWAY, S.C. – Caroline Inman clocked a time good enough for 17th place, earning the low score for the Charleston Southern women's cross country team Friday, to guide the Buccaneers a third-place team result at the Chanticleer Challenge, a meet play hosted by Coastal Carolina.
INMAN TOPS PACK
Inman, a junior, finished 17th out of 87 runners with her time of 18:44.7. The result earned 15 points for the Bucs. It marks the second-straight meet in which she was the leading CSU runner.
TRIO GAINS KEY POINTS
The next Charleston Southern runners to cross the line were a pack of three in consecutive order, from No. 23-25, and earning 20-22 points.
Anne Akagi set the tone with her time of 19:08.9, less than a second ahead of teammates
Keerstin Augustin (19:09.6) and
Taylor Barnes (19:09.8).
They marked the second set of three teammates to finish consecutively, following five-in-a-row by meet winner Wake Forest.
FINAL POINT SCORER NABS TOP-30 TIME
Sarah McCartney registered the last time to count towards the Buccaneers' team tally, as her 29th-place result of 19:25.2 scored 26 points.
ALSO COMPETING
Sarah Jacobs also spent time on the course Friday evening, garnering a 55th-place time of 21:18.4.
UP NEXT
The Bucs return to the meet schedule in two weeks when they travel back to Tallahassee, Florida, for the second time within a month's span. Charleston Southern will participate in the FSU Pre-National Invitational Oct. 15 with the meet slated to begin at 8 a.m.
