FLORENCE, S.C. – Five members of the Charleston Southern women's tennis program wrapped up play this week at the Florence 25K event at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.
SINGLES RESULTS
Luiza Fullana picked up a victory in her two matches of the qualifying draw, as she opened with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over No. 15-seed Emma Lella. She then fell in the second round to top-seed Emiliana Arango 6-0, 6-0.
In other qualifying first-round play,
Laura Marti dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to No. 13-seed Alana Smith.
DOUBLES PAIR REACHES QUARTERS
Marti teamed with
Madalina Man to garner a first-round 6-4, 6-4 triumph in doubles action against McKenzie Davis and Allie Murrell. The win lifted the duo into the quarterfinals, where it dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to No. 2-seed Robin Anderson and Elysia Bolton.
Another Charleston Southern doubles duo was on the court in the first round but
Zoe Cauthen and
Tiffany Pyritz fell 6-3, 6-2 to Jia-Jing Lu and Katie Volynets.
Fullana played alongside a non-Bucs player, Anastasia Sysoeva, and the tandem lost 6-4, 6-1 in the first round to Gabriela Lee and Alycia Parks.

These five Buccaneers will join their teammates at the ITA Carolina Regional event, which begins Thursday, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the next-to-last fall tournament.
