Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lancers take defensive battle Friday night

CHARLESTON, S.C. – In another 40-minute defensive battle, Longwood made just enough stops down the stretch to survive a gritty Charleston Southern effort Friday night in Big South men's basketball action from Buccaneer Field House.

Led by another staunch defensive effort in the second half, Charleston Southern (2-18, 1-15 Big South) held Longwood (11-14, 10-9 Big South) to just 33% for a second-straight night thanks to a season-best nine blocks but were unable to overcome the Lancers' No. 3 league defense in the final moments.

Phlandrous Fleming Jr. led all scorers once again with 19 points while securing 10 rebounds for his fourth-straight double-double and Big South-leading sixth on the season. He was joined in double figures by 15 from Ja'Quavian Florence and Sean Price's 11-point effort. Sadarius Bowser tied a career-high with nine rebounds while rejecting three Lancer shots at the rim headlining the defensive prowess the Bucs showed.

Meanwhile Longwood had four players in double figures led by Juan Munoz (14) while Jesper Gralund and DeShawun Wade each added 12 and Leslie Nkereuwem added 10 off the bench.
