Spartans rally to steal series finale from Bucs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – USC Upstate used a five-run seventh inning to erase a 4-2 deficit and down Charleston Southern softball 7-4 Saturday afternoon in Big South action from the CSU Softball Field.

USC Upstate (11-4, 3-0 Big South) got multi-hit days from Sarah Price and Marisa Soterakis while Charleston Southern (1-6, 0-3 Big South) was led offensively by two-RBI days from SeaEnna Satcher and Dominique Mannerino.
 
How It Happened
  • USC Upstate scratched across a run in the second for a 1-0 lead but Satcher answered with a two-run home run in the bottom half for a 2-1 Buccaneer advantage.
  • Baylee Eaton and Savannah Brown would trade 0's in the third and fourth before the Spartans tied it at 2-2 in the fifth with an infield single
  • An infield single and throwing error put the first two Buccaneer batters on base in the sixth before a wild pitch moved both into scoring position for Mannerino
  • Mannerino delivered a two-run double down the right field line for a 4-2 lead through six frames
  • USC Upstate got the seventh-inning rally started early doing their damage with five runs in five hits and a Buccaneer throwing error

  • SeaEnna Satcher hit her first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field for a 2-1 lead before finishing with two hits on the day
  • Dominique Mannerino collected RBI's number three and four with her two-run double in the sixth
  • Three of the five Bucs' hits Saturday went for extra bases as Ashley Meckley added a double upping her average to .381 on the season and an OPS of 1.310
