Box Score WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Charleston Southern was unable to overcome a trio of Juwon Farri touchdown carries as the Buccaneers fell on the road to host Monmouth in Big South Conference play on Saturday afternoon, 35-17.

The Bucs (0-2, 0-2 Big South) fought their way back into the game thanks to the right-arm of
Jack Chambers as the redshirt junior quarterback posted a career-high 341 yards on 31-of-48 passing. However, the Hawks (1-0, 1-0 Big South) took advantage of a trio of CSU interceptions and converted them into 14 points on their way to securing the conference win.

Geoffrey Wall recorded a career-high 10 catches for 66 yards in the contest, while
Cayden Jordan highlighted his afternoon with four catches for a career-high 108 yards and a touchdown.
Kendrick Bell added a receiving touchdown in the Bucs' loss.

Farri finished with 124 rushing yards and three touchdowns to pace the Monmouth offense, while Terrance Greene Jr. added five catches for 166 yards and a score through the air.  Tony Muskett was 18-of-26 for 297 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively,
Justin McIntire paced the Bucs' defense with 14 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss.
Anton Williams added a sack, while
Nick Salley chipped in six tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Eddie Morales had a team-high eight tackles and added an interception and two pass breakups, while Da'Quan Grimes added seven stops.

How They Scored
- Monmouth struck quickly in the first quarter as Tony Muskett connected with Terrance Greene Jr. for a 70-yard touchdown connection with 12:40 left in the first quarter to give the Hawks the early 7-0 lead.
- The Bucs responded on the ensuing drive with a key 27-yard pass from Jack Chambers to Garris Schwarting on a 3rd-and-8 that led to Alex Usry's 34-yard field goal with 10:40 left in the first quarter.
- The Hawks answered on the next possession as Juwon Farri took the ball in from six-yards out on a 6-play, 76-yard drive to put Monmouth up 14-3 with 8:15 left in the first quarter.
- Farri found the end zone for the second time in the contest at the 9:43 mark as he capped off a 12-play, 77-yard drive with a 26-yard touchdown run to put the Hawks ahead 21-3.
- Cayden Jordan came up with a pair of big catches just before the first half – the first for a 21-yard completion on 3rd-and-9, while the second came on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Jack Chambers to cut the lead down to 21-10 with 26 seconds remaining and capped off a 13-play, 97-yard drive.
- Monmouth took advantage of a CSU interception and quickly capitalized on the turnover in the third quarter as Farri scored from two-yards out to put the Hawks ahead 28-10 with 3:01 on the clock following the 5-play, 48-yard drive.
- The Hawks added a 20-yard touchdown pass from Muskett to Assanti Kearney following a CSU interception to add to the lead with 1:29 remaining in the third quarter.
- Chambers found Kendrick Bell for an eight-yard pitch-and-catch touchdown in the left flat with 10:43 remaining as the Bucs narrowed the gap down to 35-17. The Bucs' 6-play, 56-yard drive was highlighted by a 27-yard reception by Quinn Caballero on a 3rd-and-17 play to set up the touchdown catch.

- Monmouth held the 470-369 edge in total yards thanks to their 173-28 edge in the running game on the afternoon.
- The Bucs were narrowly beaten in the first-down game with Monmouth picking up 20 to CSU's 19.
- The Bucs held the 341-297 edge in passing yardage.
- CSU converted 6-of-17 first downs in the game, while Monmouth picked up 8-of-17 in the contest.

- Jack Chambers posted his first collegiate 300-yard passing effort and the Bucs' first 300-yard passing game since Austin Brown threw for 301 yards against Liberty back on Nov. 14, 2015.
- Cayden Jordan made it two consecutive games with a touchdown catch and he added his first collegiate 100-yard receiving game in the loss.
- Geoffrey Wall posted CSU's first 10-catch game since Nathan Perera posted 10 catches against Jacksonville back on Sept. 8, 2012.
- CSU falls to 1-4 all-time in the series against the Hawks following the loss.
