JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Jenea Knight scored her first collegiate goal Friday night and
Jenna Moran made six saves in goal, but preseason ASUN favorite North Florida edged visiting Charleston Southern, 2-1, at Hodges Stadium.
Knight had two of the Bucs' three shots on goal, with
Lauren McDonald taking CSU's other shot of the match.
Katie Carnes assisted on Knight's goal for her first career point.
North Florida wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Thais Reiss scored just four minutes into the contest. The Ospreys doubled their lead midway through the first half, as Kayla Bond scored in the 31st minute for the home side.
The Bucs clawed their way back into the match just before halftime, as Carnes set up Knight for her first goal of the season.
Similar to the last game, the Bucs defense tightened in the second half, limiting UNF to just four shots and two shots on target. CSU had the best opportunity of the final 45 minutes, but Knight was denied on a point-blank shot in the final minute, as the Ospreys held on for their fifth win of the season.
