CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern plays host to its first home tournament since 2014 Friday and Saturday when it welcomes Wyoming and Jacksonville State for the VolleyBucs Invitational.
The Citadel was originally supposed to partake in the tournament but had to withdraw due to COVID protocols.
CSU will play Wyoming Friday evening and Jacksonville State Saturday morning, with the Cowgirls and Gamecocks squaring off in a Friday morning matchup.
Last Time Out
Charleston Southern opened its season last weekend at the South Alabama Invitational, going 1-2 on the weekend. The Bucs rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Jacksonville in the season opener, 3-2, before falling in a pair of three-set matches to South Alabama and Florida A&M to close the weekend.
Dayana Chara led the Bucs in kills during the tournament with 26, while
Peyton Thompson added 25.
Rachel Feggeler had 20 digs, 14 kills and 11 aces, with seven of those aces coming against Jacksonville.

The Cowgirls split their first four matches of the season, beating Siena twice and falling to Saint Mary's twice at the Rumble in the Rockies tournament. Wyoming went 8-6 during the 2020-21 season, finishing in a tie for fourth place in the Mountain West.
Wyoming was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West this season, with middle blocker Jackie McBride earning a spot on the Preseason All-Mountain West Team. McBride has 16 kills in seven sets played this season.
Naya Shime leads the Cowgirls with 30 kills through the opening weekend, while KC McMahon has 27. Payton Chamberlain and Kyra Slavik have combined for 98 assists through four matches for Wyoming.
Jacksonville State – Saturday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m.

2020-21 Record: 16-2, 15-1 Ohio Valley
Jacksonville State enters this weekend with a 4-0 record after sweeping the Gamecock Classic and downing Chattanooga in three sets. The Gamecocks have yet to lose a set during the 2021 season.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 16-2 season during the 2020-21 campaign, including a 15-1 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference, earning them a share of the regular season title. Jacksonville State joined the ASUN this season and was picked to finish fifth in the league's preseason poll, with outside hitter Lena Kindermann earning a spot on the Preseason All-ASUN Team.
Kindermann leads the Gamecocks with 38 kills and his hitting at a .478 clip. Zoe Gonzales, Kaylee Milton and Courtney Glotzbach each have more than 20 kills through the first week of play, while Lexie Libs has 113 assists in four matches.
