Kernersville, N.C. – Sarah McCartney finished fifth in the Vertcross Invitational on Friday afternoon. She and Keerstin Augustin finished in the top ten for CSU, helping the bucs to a third place finish in the nine team field.

McCartney turned in a 21:59 6K, her personal best 6K time, and was the first underclassman across the line as seniors represented the top four spots. Augustin's time of 22:10 was also a personal best. She was followed by Anne Akagi, Sarah Jacobs, and Zanelle Willemse. CSU's top five all finished within 1:12 of each other, the second-lowest 1-5 split of any team in the race.

Overall, four of the Buccaneers top five set personal bests, including Sarah Jacob's time of 22:47 and Zanelle Willemse's time of 23:11. Taylar White and Emma James competed in their first collegiate 6Ks and finished sixth and seventh for the Buccaneers.
