CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern faces Radford on Saturday at 7 p.m. in a game with major Big South Tournament implications.
The Bucs and Highlanders enter the game tied for fourth in the conference standings with 3-2-1 records and 10 points. The duo trail USC Upstate (15), Campbell (14) and Gardner-Webb (13).
Including Saturday's game, there are three contests remaining in the regular season with the top four advancing to the Big South Tournament which takes place in Matthews, N.C., on November 3 and 6.
CSU (5-7-2 overall) is led offensively by
Jenea Knight's six goals and 16 points, ranking in a tie for third in the conference in both categories.
Elin Persson moved into a tie for ninth in the league when she scored her fourth goal of the year in Wednesday's loss to Campbell.
A trio of Bucs – Knight,
Erin Rush and
Bri Robinson – are tied for 10th with four assist.
Sara Curtis has a conference-best five shutouts, a 1.77 goals against average and .697 save percentage.
Radford (7-3-4 overall) is paced Alexeis Kirnon with five goals, and she is tied with Amy Swain for the team lead with 13 points. Swain leads the Highlanders with five assists, and Jordan Phillips ranks fourth in the Big South with a 1.16 goals against average.
