Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bucs Not Enough for Gardner-Webb on the Road

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball fell on the road to Gardner-Webb Saturday afternoon, as the Runnin' Bulldogs used a strong final ten minutes to capture the 82-63 win. The Bucs have now lost seven-straight Big South contests with just four games remaining in the regular season.

YOUNG TALENT
Charleston Southern (5-20, 1-11 Big South) continues to call on its talented group of freshmen, as Claudell Harris Jr., Kalib Clinton and Taje' Kelly each finished in double-figures. Harris Jr. led the way with 20 points as Kelly added 13 and Clinton contributed 10.

Clinton's damage did not just come from the scoring department, as the freshman forward added nine boards, one shy of his first-career double-double, and three steals to his impressive line.

The talented trio played a combined 96 minutes, with Harris Jr. falling just one minute shy of playing the full 40. Clinton's 30 minutes is a career-high, and Kelly's 27 minutes stand as the second-most in his young career.

STEADY HANDS
Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh went 10-deep in tonight's contest, but only six Bucs found the scorebook in terms of scoring. Tahlik Chavez joining the freshmen trio in double-figures with 14, as the guard has continued to be called on to score at a high clip. Chavez has now found double-digits in four-straight affairs, dating back to his career night against Longwood February 5.

SECOND TIME AROUND
The second time these two teams clashed played out drastically different than the first meeting back in early January. Gardner-Webb took control from the start in the earlier meeting, as Charleston Southern came out much better at Paul Porter Arena and found itself down just three at the midway break.

UP NEXT
The Bucs' next affair will take place back in the Buc Dome, as Charleston Southern plays host to UNC Asheville. The first meeting between the two sides saw the Bulldogs best the Bucs 82-59 in Asheville. The rematch is set for a 7:00 p.m. tip Wednesday, February 16.
