Opening Tip
• Charleston Southern looks to avoid a three-game losing streak at the hands of the USC Upstate, as the Bucs have dropped two-straight to the Spartans for the first time in the series. The last CSU win came at the Buc Dome in the 2019-20 Big Southern opener, where Charleston Southern dominated from start to finish.
• The two sides saw one another back in late January, with USC Upstate outlasting a late CSU push to hold on to the 70-57 win at the G.B Hodge Center. Â
• Charleston Southern's lone Big South win came in front of the home fans, as CSU beat High Point in the closing seconds with a
Tahlik Chavez trey with under five seconds to play.
•
Deontaye Buskey finished with a season-high 21 points last time out against UNC Asheville, as the senior went 7-16 from the field.
• USC Upstate comes into the contest winners of just two of its last five, including a win last time out over Presbyterian. The game was tied at 30 at the midway beak, but the Spartans took the lead for good at the 2:30 mark.
• Jordan Gainey led the way for the Spartans when the two teams met earlier in the year, as the freshman finished with 17 points, two blocks, two steals, and three boards.
