Charleston Southern Comeback Bid Falls Short at Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball fell to Presbyterian at the Templeton Center Wednesday night, as the Blue Hose kept CSU scoreless in the final 4:30 of the contest to come away with a 68-48 win.

YOUNG STARS SHINE
Charleston Southern (5-23, 1-14 Big South) got 34 out of 48 points from the freshman duo of Claudell Harris Jr. and Taje' Kelly. Harris Jr. led the way with 18 points to go along with seven boards after playing all 40 minutes, and Kelly fell right in line with 16 points of his own.

Sean Price had a strong showing as well for the Bucs, as the fifth-year senior finished the night with eight points, six rebounds and three dimes.

GAME OF RUNS
Presbyterian (12-18, 4-11 Big South) was able to weather the Charleston Southern storm a few times down the stretch, as the Bucs found a way back into the game a handful of times in the second half.

The first time the two sides met earlier in the season came with a much different outcome. Charleston Southern knocked down a bucket in the final seconds to go up one before Presbyterian's Rayshon Harrison used an elbow jumper at the buzzer to give the Blue Hose the win. This time around, Presbyterian was able to take the momentum away from the visiting Bucs, shutting the door on a comeback bid.

TOUGH FINISH
Charleston Southern cut it to a two-possession game with just under ten minutes to play in the contest, but Presbyterian answered the call on its home court. The Blue Hose ended the game outscoring CSU 25-9.

The Bucs were held scoreless the final 4:28 of regulation, as Sean Price's trey marked the final bucket of the contest for the visitors.

UP NEXT
The Bucs' next affair will take place on the road, as Charleston Southern travels to Winthrop for the final regular-season contest in the campaign. The first meeting between the two sides saw Winthrop best the Bucs 70-65 back in January. The rematch is set for a 2:00 p.m. tip Saturday, February 26.
