CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern women's tennis earned its third-straight home victory of the season, topping Appalachian State, 5-0, in non-conference play. The win gives Charleston Southern its 11th win at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center in the 2022 slate.
The match started with Charleston Southern (15-5) clinching the doubles point after
Zoe Cauthen and
Tiffany Pyritz earned the 6-4 decision on the second court.
Madalina Man and
Khyanna Singh looked string as well, taking the 7-5 decision after a 7-3 win in the tiebreak.
Singles went the way of the Bucs as well, as Appalachian State (5-14) was unable to find a point after two flights went unfinished to clinch the match for Charleston Southern. Cauthen again continued her strong play at the fourth singles flight, winning in straight sets. Singh followed suit with a straight-sets win as well at the adjacent court to Cauthen and
Kassandra Di Staulo battled to a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Charleston Southern's win Thursday afternoon draws an end to the regular season as the Bucs await their opponent in the Semi-Finals of the Big South Championships in Charlotte, N.C. Friday, April 22. CSU earned its second-straight regular season title after completing a perfect Big South campaign for the second year in a row.
