NINETY SIX, S.C. – Charleston Southern women's golf saw its 2021-22 season come to a close Saturday morning, falling 4-0-1 to USC Upstate in the match play semifinals of the Big South Championships at The Patriot at Grand Harbor course in Ninety Six, South Carolina.
NO. 3 SEED
The Buccaneers were one of the top-four squads after Friday's conclusion of stroke play, earning a coveted spot in the match play portion of the tournament with a chance at a conference tournament title and automatic NCAA Regionals berth.
CSU was the No. 3 seed among the quartet, its highest finish after stroke play since 2016. It was first time Charleston Southern reached the match play segment after the league adopted the extended format last spring to better align with the NCAAs.
EARNING ONE TIE
Erica Whitehouse finished all square for the tie in her matchup with the Spartans' Abigayle Hatcher, preventing a complete sweep.
OTHERS IN ACTION
The remaining Bucs in action were unable to overcome their USC Upstate counterparts, as the year came to a close.
