CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern goalkeeper Jenna Moran was the Big South Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year following the voting of the league's head coaches leading into the 2022 season. Her award highlights the Bucs' preseason women's soccer honors as they get ready for the upcoming campaign.

Moran was named the 2021 Goalkeeper of the Year and an All-Big South First Team choice after helping guide CSU back to the league tournament last fall. She became the first netminder in program history to receive first-team all-conference accolades and the first Buccaneer overall to be named to the first team since 2012.

She finished the year with six shutouts, five of which came against Big South competition, and posted an .802 save percentage. In league play, her ability to get in front of the ball increased with an .839 save percentage, ranking second among league goalies in shutouts (five) and goals against average (0.95) during the conference slate.

She added a defensive player of the week nod after tallying back-to-back clean sheets against Presbyterian and UNC Asheville.

Charleston Southern was tabbed sixth in the 10-team poll after receiving 53 points. The majority of the votes for the Buccaneers slotted them fifth, keeping a tight placement with Gardner-Webb. The top-four teams at the end of the regular season will compete in the Big South Championships.

The Bucs will kickoff the regular season at 2 p.m. Thursday when they play host to Brewton-Parker. Admission at CSU Soccer Field is free this fall.
