CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's cross country program has announced its 2022 schedule, featuring one home meet and three additional regular-season competitions in preparation for the league championships and postseason appearance.
The calendar begins Friday, September 2, as the Bucs play host to the CSU Buccaneer XC Invitational. The festivities will begin at 9 a.m. at the CSU Cross Country Course.
Charleston Southern returns to action two more times in the first month, starting with a trip to Cary, North Carolina, for the adidas XC Challenge, hosted by North Carolina State Sept. 16. Two weeks later, the Buccaneers will stay closer to home with the Coastal Carolina-hosted Chanticleer Challenge Sept. 30 in Conway.
The lone regular-season meet in October is slated for October 14 when CSU heads back to Kernersville, North Carolina, for the VertCross, hosted by fellow league school High Point.
The Big South Championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, in Farmville, Virginia, with Longwood serving as the host institution. It marks the first Saturday race of the campaign as all the others previously will run on Fridays.
The Buccaneers will be aiming for a spot in the postseason, which includes the NCAA Southeast Regional in Louisville, Kentucky, November 11 and the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Nov. 19.
CSU was picked to finish third in the Big South preseason poll, recently released by the conference office following a vote of the head coaches.
