SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball fell on the road Wednesday night as USC Upstate evened the season series with a 77-60 win. The Spartans win marked the second time in two contests that the home team took the meeting this year.
TYEREE LEADS THE WAY
Sophomore
Tyeree Bryan had an efficient night on the offensive side of the floor for the Bucs, finishing the night 8-12 from the field to add to a strong 4-5 showing from downtown. Bryan has had a handful of impressive performances this season, but tonight's output stands as his most impressive line to date.
DOUBLE-DIGITS
The Bucs had two in double-figures, paced by Bryan's 20.
Claudell Harris Jr. wasn't far behind with 14 of his own, as the sophomore wing continues to score at a high clip. The pair accounted for 13 of the 22 made field goals from the floor, including six of the nine made threes.
Cheikh Faye finished one point shy of the clip, hitting three treys.
DETERMINED FROM THREE
USC Upstate found 12 of its 30 field goals coming from three-point land, finishing the contest shooting at a 45% clip from three. Eight of those 12 total threes came in the first half, the other four coming in the closing stanza. Jordan Gainey led the way for the Spartans from three-point land, knocking down four of his eight attempts.
THE SECOND TIME AROUND
The USC Upstate contest marks the fourth different opponent the Bucs have seen for the second time this season. Longwood stood as the first in repeat opponents, a contest that CSU was able to leave with a win, but the other three have not been as kind to the Buccaneers. Two of those situations had the Bucs take the first meeting but fall in the return trip.
UP NEXT
The Bucs return home to the Buc Dome for its next Big South affair as they play hosts to Radford. The action is set for a 5:30 p.m. start and stands as the White Out game. The first meeting came in Virginia, as a comeback bid fell just short from Charleston Southern.
